I came across the cutest little Mickey Mouse pumpkin on Ribblr but it's paid. It's just a simple pattern. Right? Well, for whatever reason Sandworms are coming to mind. I need it. I have this thicker yarn and I don't know what better thing to use it for. So I was thinking of making the mouse head but replacing one small pumpkin with a sandworm and calling it even. Hmm, maybe even make the big pumpkin striped and the ones on top green and purple. So many different designs are coming but by far this is my favorite. Let's get into it!
Materials:
3.5 , 4 , 4.5 , 8 mm hook
4 weight yarn in: red, green, white, black, brown, and blue
6 weight yarn in purple
Scissors
Darning needle
Wire & Safety Eyes (optional)
Abbreviations: US Terminology
ch - chain
MR - Magic Ring
sk - skip
hdc - half double crochet
sc- single crochet
( ) - Repeat
inc - increase
BLO - Back Loop Only
FLO - Front Loop Only
turn - turn work
dec - decrease
sl st - slip stitch
dc - double crochet
tr - treble crochet
FO - Fasten Off
Inv CC - Invisible Color Change
Start:
Big ( 8mm / Purple ) / Little Pumpkin ( 4mm / Green )
1.) ch 16, sk 3
2.) BLO : hdc down chain, ch 1, turn
3-35.) Repeat row 2
36.) Connect both sides of the pumpkin, sc or sl st down the side.
37.) FO - Leave a long end for sewing both sides!
Sewing : Sew the bottom closed! Once you get the sides sc or sl st together, you will have a big open circle! Kind of like a cuff if you were making clothes! You need to string the needle through the top of each rib, pull tightly as you work around! Start stuffing your pumpkin now and well! You want it to be round and juicy! Then string the needle through the middle and sew the top just alike!
Snake: Black and White ( 3.5mm )
NOTES
* Each ROUND ends with a sl st, ch1 *
** Every 2 rows change color, I started with white and ended with white **
*** Inv CC: To make an Inv CC, start by sticking your hook into the stitch, yarn over, and instead of yarning over for the second time and pulling through, we will add and yarn over with the new color! Pull the yarn through the loops and you're done! ***
**** Stuff throughout the process, DON'T wait until the end!!!! ****
***** For a stronger hold, you can also use wire to help with the snake's shape *****
